Briefing Books
The Briefing Books are a deeper look into a few of the topics Bill Clements worked on during his tenure as Deputy Secretary of Defense. Each book provides links to a select collection of archival documents that illuminate a particular historical event. With the benefit of declassified reports, transcripts, and memorandum, the Briefing Books allow researchers to understand events as they unfolded.
Drawn from a small sampling of documents in the digital archive, the Briefing Books highlight only a few of the events the Ford and Nixon administrations worked on. Researchers at the Clements Center for National Security will continue to add Briefing Books on topics ranging from national security crises, treaty-making, weapons procurement, and policy development.
