Citation

There is no fee to use quotations or cite information from the Clements National Security Papers Project website. Materials contained within this research tool originate from several Federal repositories and the Clements Center for National Security at the University of Texas at Austin. The preferred method of citation varies by repository; we have provided examples based on available criteria.

The organization of the Clements National Security Papers Project emulates the archival arrangements employed by their real-world repositories. The arrangements described by this project begin at the repository level and conclude at the folder level. Folders contain documents selected by project staff based on relevance to William P. Clements. Additional levels of archival arrangement such as series, sub series, primary subject file, and secondary subject file are defined when present.

The archival arrangement is seen in the breadcrumbs for any given record. The blue text above a document title notes the directory path used on this site which is a parallel to physical arrangement used by the parent repository. You can utilize the information in the breadcrumbs to construct a more complete citation.

Individual items are identified in our project with the naming convention "e_clef" followed by a series of numbers. The "e_clef" identifier does not have a real-world equivalent and is only meaningful within the context of this project.

Researchers can find additional information necessary for complete citations in the Citation Details. The Citation Details also contains a url for the Finding Aid provided by the physical repository.
